He was speaking at a dinner, hosted by notable sports journalist Mr. Amjad Aziz Malik, in honor of recently-appointed honorary consul of Republic of Korea in Peshawar, Afan Aziz. The dinner was attended by notables of the city including Police intelligence chief Mr. Akhtar Ali Shah, Raza Kuli Khan, , Caretaker Minister Mr. Mr. Abdul Rauf Khattak, bank of Khyber MD. Mr. Javed Hashmat, , Roots CEO Mr. Faisal Mushtaque, DC Peshawar Javed Marwat, former IG of KPK police Mr. Naveed Malik and Senator Haji Ghulam Ali.
The governor said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should adopt the example of Sri Lanka that trained housemaids and sent them abroad to earn huge foreign exchange. He said there was an institute for the purpose in the province that can trained people and send abroad that need certified labour.
He said if the consul could take appropriate steps for the export of the certified labour, the government had the infrastructure to provide him such labour and human resource for Korea. Responding to the remarks of Afan Aziz that Korea had made advancement in technology, Shaukatullah said that Pakistan needed that technology and the honorary consul should use his good offices for bringing the same to the province.
Earlier, in his keynote speech, Afan Aziz said that the Korean government and investors had shown great interest in the hydel potential while they were also working on investment in some of these projects.
He maintained that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could benefit from the experience of Korea in several fields, adding till early 70s Korean economy was parallel to that of Pakistan but with determination and hard work it now stood as the seventh largest exporter in the world and its products are now household names.
Afan Aziz, who is also former president Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI), he would put in all efforts to improve bilateral ties between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Republic of Korea, and would strenuously work towards attracting investment into the province.
